Richard L. O’Bryant is the director of the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute at Northeastern University – named in remembrance of his father. He oversees educational, leadership, and cultural programs for students of the African diaspora. With a background as a student-centered administrator at Northeastern, O’Bryant effectively implements the university’s vision by fostering strong relationships across the Northeastern community.

His vision for the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute is to synchronize students’ academic life, residential life, off-campus life and cultural and spiritual life connections contributing to a robust overall student experience.
